A recent NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) study states that Earth is much greener than it was two decades ago. The study states that China and India, the two most populated countries in the world, were the leading nations in terms of greenland. According to NASA, the reason behind it is the massive tree plantation programmes in China as well as the intensive agricultural practices in both nations. Reports state that the increase in foliage was first detected with satellite data in he mid-1990s; however, it could not be determined whether the growth was because of human participation, until a NASA instrument conducted a study of data collected over 20 years. Following China and India, the countries that have contributed to the green phenomenon are Canada, Mexico, Australia, Russia, USA and the European Union.
