Fireworks Banned in Galápagos Islands

News
Authorities at Galápagos Islands, part of the Republic of Ecuador, have put an end to the sale and use of firecrackers on the islands. According to reports, this decision was taken keeping in mind the need to protect and preserve the ecology of the islands. A popular tourist destination, the islands are known for their abundance of unique and endemic flora and fauna. For the past few years, the use of fireworks has been rampant and this has resulted in a lot of distress to the animal and plant life.
