Spider Rain

News
People living in Minas Gerais, Brazil were recently witness to a rather bizarre event—they saw huge clusters of spiders falling from the sky. Although such a sighting sounds bizarre, experts claim that the spiders were hanging from a giant web to catch prey. According to Adalberto dos Santos, an arachnology professor at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, these spiders belong to the species Parawixia bistriata, a rare ‘social’ spider that can build fine webs, which are impossible for humans to see. This is a regular phenomenon in hot and humid places. Spiders are harmless creatures that help to keep mosquitoes and flies in check.
