Weaving Willows

News
British sculptor Anna, who goes by the name Anna & the Willow, creates magnificent sculptures using English-grown rods of willow. In order to create a life-size sculpture, she first draws a sketch and then uses bespoke steel frames to form the base. After developing the steel frames, she wraps them in layers of interwoven willow rods, giving them their final shape. Lastly, to make the sculptures seem real, Anna places them in the midst of natural surroundings. Anna’s collection of marvellous willow creations include a nine-foot sculpture called 'The Huntress of Skipton Castle Woods', which showcases a woman archer. She has also sculpted life-sized animals, including a stag and horse.
