World’s Largest Bee Rediscovered

A team of biologists from USA and Australia recently rediscovered the world’s largest bee–the Wallace’s giant bee–on the North Moluccas islands of Indonesia. According to reports, Wallace’s giant bees are four times the size of an average honeybee. Up until now, it was believed that the world’s largest bee had become extinct, as they were last seen 38 years ago. The research team stumbled upon a single female Wallace’s giant bee amidst a termites’ nest in a tree, which was more than 2mts off the ground.
