Banana Chocolate Chip Cake

What You Need:
  • 1 cup banana puree
  • 150 grams chocolate chips
  • 1½ cups refined flour (maida) + for dusting
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¾ cup castor sugar
  • ½ cup butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup yoghurt, whisked
  • Oil for greasing
  • Ask a parent or adult to help you with this recipe
  • Preheat the oven to 180ºC.
  • Sift together the refined flour, salt and baking soda in a large mixing bowl. Add the castor sugar and mix well. Add the butter and mix well. Break the eggs and add them to the mix. Add the vanilla essence and yoghurt and mix well.
  • Add the banana puree and mix. Add the brown sugar and beat with an electric beater till the mix is smooth. Reserve some chocolate chips and add the rest to the mix. Mix well.
  • Grease a cake tin with oil and dust it with some refined flour. Pour the batter into the tin. Spread the reserved chocolate chips on top.
  • Bake the cake in the preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes.
  • Remove the cake from the tin and bring it down to room temperature. Cut the cake into wedges, arrange them on a serving platter and serve immediately.
