Makkai Ki Missi

What You Need:
  • 3 tablespoons tinned sweet corn
  • 1 cup cornmeal (makai ka atta)
  • ½ cup gram flour (besan)
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour (atta)
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Oil to cook
  • Ask a parent or adult to help you with this recipe
  • Crush the sweet corn.
  • Mix the onions, salt, red chilli powder and turmeric powder in a bowl, crushing it with your fingers. Add the sweet corn and mix.
  • Add the gram flour, wheat flour and cornmeal and knead with enough water to form a dough. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  • Heat a non-stick tawa.
  • Divide the dough into equal portions and roll into balls. Dust each ball with a little dry whole wheat flour and roll carefully into thick rotis.
  • Place each roti on the hot tawa and roast on a medium heat for ½ minute. Turn over, drizzle with a little oil all around and turn again. Cook, turning a few times, till both sides are well done.
  • Serve hot.
