Custom-made books and talking books are aiming to charm new-age readers.

Kids seem to have lost interest in reading thanks to attractions like the Internet, television shows and gaming zones. New-age books have been created to reinculcate the reading habit among kids. A Kolkata-based company called My Personalised Mall has introduced 13 titles with stories of superheroes like Batman, X-men, Spiderman and Little Mermaid in a personalised format.

The child’s name is woven into the novel to make it interesting enough for the child to read. The novel could thus be called '(Your Name) and Spiderman fight Dr Octopus'. The concept is very similar to the one that has been used abroad for some time now, where calendars and books are personalised and made child-friendly.
