NASA recently unveiled its first experimental aircraft named X-57 Maxwell. Under development since 2015, the aircraft will be ready for its first flight by the end of 2020. The aircraft will be enhanced with additional modifications such as lighter and narrower wings. It will also have 14 electric engines including six smaller lift propellers, which will be activated for take-offs and landings. NASA also showcased a newly built stimulator that allowed engineers and pilots to feel and understand the workings of the X-57. The developers are currently working on improving the aircraft’s battery and energy storage capacity.
