Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV will team up with US-based startup Archer to produce an electric aircraft. Archer is one of the companies that are working towards introducing a new breed of air taxis called electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The partners will work towards reducing production costs to make eVTOL affordable. They aim to create an environment-friendly aircraft that is capable of flying two to 12 passengers for short distances above automobile traffic in crowded cities. The electric aircraft has been fitted with an electric motor and will fly about 96kms above ground level at a speed of approximately 241km/hr.
