Games Inspired by Kolam and Rangoli

Kanaka Ananth, an architect from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, launched a set of four indigenous games–Krazy Kolam, Rangolio, Trikona and Paheli–at the India Toy Fair 2021, which was held virtually this year. Krazy Kolam is a design-patented product that has puzzles based on kolam designs.

This game has 30 patterns ranging from simple to difficult designs. The Rangolio puzzle has over 500 patterns, the Trikona puzzle is based on traditional jali work and Paheli is India’s oldest cultural game that dates back 4,500 years. The wooden pieces in the toys are made from beech wood and rosewood and the toys are packed in handmade bamboo baskets made by artisans from Assam.
