Ganesh Utsav Without Lalbaugcha Raja

For the first time since 1934, Mumbai’s famous Lalbaugcha Raja Mandal has decided not to hold the Ganesh Utsav festival this year. Instead, the mandal authorities have planned to set up a 10-day-long camp for blood and plasma donation under the title, Aarogya Utsav. Mumbai has close to 14,000 Ganesh mandals and Lalbaugcha Raja is the most popular one. One can only hope that given the situation, other mandals follow the Raja and encourage community service and social distancing.
