Hend Zaza, a 12-year-old table tennis player from Syria, has made history as one of the youngest Olympians of all time. She is also the youngest table tennis player to ever participate in the Olympic Games. She qualified for the Olympics by winning the West Asia qualifying tournament last year. In her first-round match at the Olympics, she took on 39-year-old Austrian Liu Jia. The last youngest participant was 11-year-old Romanian Beatrice Hustiu, who competed in figure skating in the 1968 Winter Olympics.
