Following up on Prime Minister Narendra Modi announcement regarding recruiting women soldiers into the Indian Army, the Indian Ministry of Defence has finally decided to recruit women. Online registrations have opened up since April 25, 2019 and will go on till June 8, 2019. The military is hoping to fill 100 vacancies with women soldiers. To qualify, women candidates will have to pass a Combined Defence Services Examination and appear for a physical endurance test. Earlier on, women were only allowed to work in the medical, legal, educational, signals and engineering wings of the army.
