18-year-old Kashish Lakra has become India’s youngest athlete to participate in the Tokyo Paralympics in the women’s club throw F51 category. In this event, athletes throw a wooden club to the farthest distance possible. The game was introduced during the Summer Paralympic Games of 1960. Lakra was a budding star in the world of Indian wrestling but met with a tragic accident in 2017. With the support of her family and physiotherapist, she managed to come back to sports. In 2019, Lakra won a gold medal at the Nottwil World Para Athletics Junior Championships held in Switzerland.
