Kolkata in West Bengal has got its very first tram library. The West Bengal Transport Corporation has specially designed the tram and filled it with newspapers, magazines and books, including those for competitive examinations like the civil service, GRE and GMAT. The aim of the library tram is to attract students from various schools and colleges around the Kolkata education hub and promote the habit of reading books. The tram will move between Shyambazar and Esplanade, traversing 4.5kms through the city’s education hub. Besides reading material, the tram will also have free WiFi.
