Lieutenant General Madhuri Kanitkar


Lieutenant General Madhuri Kanitkar made history by becoming the first woman paediatrician to achieve the second-highest post in the Indian Army. She has been serving for over 37 years. Kanitkar has also become India’s third woman after General Punita Arora and Air Marshall Padmavathy Bandopadhyay to hold a three-star rank. Kanitkar was previously appointed as the dean of the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune.
