Newsmaker: Lt Col Sripada Sriram


Lt Col Sripada Sriram of the strategic Strikers Division of the Indian Army set a new Guinness World Record for the fastest solo cycling (men) when he cycled from Leh in Ladakh to Manali in Himachal Pradesh, a distance of 472kms, in 34 hours and 54 minutes. The ride, with a total elevation of approximately 8,000mts, took Sriram across five major passes. The ride was part of the Swarnim Vijay Varsh celebrations, marking the 50th anniversary of India’s victory against Pakistan in the 1971 war.
