Mawya Sudan, a 24-year-old flying officer, has created history by becoming the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) first woman fighter pilot from Jammu and Kashmir. She is one of the 12 female fighter pilots to be inducted into the IAF recently. On June 19, 2021, Sudan was commissioned as a fighter pilot during the Combined Graduation Parade Ceremony that took place at the Air Force Academy in Dundigal, Hyderabad. She will now undergo rigorous fighter training for a year to become a fully operational fighter pilot.
