Mount Everest Grows in Height

The highest mountain in the world, Mount Everest has grown by 0.86mts. The 50- to 60-million-year-old Mount Everest stands on the border of China and Nepal. In 2005, a Chinese survey team estimated that the height of the mountain was 8,844.43mts. Nepal took up the task of measuring Everest in April 2019, and though it managed to complete the task in a year, it was waiting for China to conduct its measurement.

Finally, the two countries announced the new height—8,848.86mts. No other mountain has been a subject of as much debate as Everest. Over the years, both the countries have differed on what should be considered as the height—rock height or snow cap too.
