The Japanese embassy has released the first picture of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train, which is being referred to as the E5 Series Shinkansen. The high-speed rail project has been sanctioned by the Indian government and is expected to be completed by 2023. The bullet train will cover a distance of 525kms between Mumbai and Ahmedabad in just two hours, with a maximum speed of 350kms/hr and an average speed of 320kms/hr. The total land required for this project is 1,380 hectares, of which 940 hectares will be in Gujarat, 431 hectares in Maharashtra and 8.70 hectares in Dadra and Nagar Haveli. The project is estimated to cost `1,08,000 crores.
