The next Mars mission of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is scheduled to take off on the morning of July 17, 2020, from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, USA. The mission includes a rover called Perseverance that is a car-sized robot, which will explore 45kms of Mars’ Jezero Crater. This crater was home to a lake and a river delta billions of years ago. The rover will collect geological samples, which it can bring back to Earth for further research into ancient life on Mars. The rover carries an instrument that will generate oxygen from Mars’ CO2-dominated atmosphere. It also hopes to get aerial shots of the planet with the help of a small helicopter that has been attached to its belly.
