Nirmal Purja, a Nepalese mountaineer, recently summited 14 peaks that are 8,000mts or higher in seven months, breaking the previous world record of seven years, 11 months and 14 days. His last summit was the Shishapangma Mountain in Tibet, which he climbed along with three fellow climbers. He made his first climb in 2012, when he summited the Lobuche Mountain in Nepal. Purja has been part of the United Kingdom’s Royal Navy and has served as a soldier on UK’s Special Boat Service. He has also served in the UK's Gurkha Regiment.
