No Bags at School

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar approved the setting up of 1,000 Government Model Sanskriti Primary Schools where students will not need to carry bags. He also approved the setting up of 108 new English medium Government Model Sanskriti Senior Secondary Schools. Admissions have started on a first-come first-served basis with a nominal fee for maintenance. The schools will provide primary students with personal lockers where they can keep their books and other stationery items.

This practice is being followed in several private schools and will now be practised in all the schools in Haryana. The government hopes this will promote healthy education practices and eventually end the homework system too, giving students free time at home. All schools will be equipped with Wi-Fi, digital classrooms, projectors, interactive whiteboards, cloudbased e-learning and bio-metric attendance. The schools will also have well-equipped laboratories for physics, chemistry and biology, studios for art and craft and a library
