The Odisha government has announced a reduction in tuition fees in all aided and unaided private schools. This decision was taken because of the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic situation. The tuition fee reduction will be divided into seven different slabs. Apart from school fees, the schools have been asked to waive off charges for transportation and food and give a 30% waiver on hostel fees. The examination fees for class 10 students who will appear for the 2021 board exams has also been waived off. This decision will benefit six lakh students and the government will bear the cost of ₹27 crore towards the exemption.
