Plastic Waste Converted Into Amenities

Project Mumbai’s Plastic Recyclothon: Ek Baar Phir conducted a seven-day plastic waste collection drive. During the drive, it collected plastic waste from 84 housing societies, 48 business establishments and 23 schools. The drive recorded participation of around 1.5 lakh people. The 2,800kgs of waste collected was then converted into 40 benches, 50 garbage bins and 3,500 pencil boxes. Project Mumbai now plans to install the benches in municipal gardens and beach fronts and distribute the garbage bins and pencil boxes to societies and
schools that participated in the drive. It is also planning a similar initiative in Pune and Nashik in the next two months.
