Japanese multinational tech company Sony has launched the Wena (Wear Electronics Naturally) watchstrap. It can be attached to any traditional watch to turn it into a smartwatch. Wearing this strap also enables one to make contactless payments, keep track of fitness levels and get notifications from smartphones. The firm has launched two designs for the strap; the Wena Wrist Pro is a classic metal strap that comes in silver or black and the Wena Wrist Active is made out of silicone. The Wena Wrist Active, which is specially made for fitness, comes with a GPS (global positioning system) and a heart-tracking feature. The strap has a quick-release system, wherein users can remove the watch face when exercising. Both straps are 20mms wide and can be fitted to any watch that has an 18 to 22mm lug width. Sony has even designed a range of watch faces specifically for the Wena watchstrap, including a premium Mechanical style that has a transparent back. In addition, the company has designed two solar-powered models and two basic quartz models. The straps connect to the phone via Bluetooth and users can customise the look of their notifications with a range of seven coloured LED lights and vibrations.
