Tokyo has installed public restrooms with smart transparent glass walls. The glass walls turn opaque for complete privacy when users lock the door from the inside. The toilets are designed by Shigeru Ban, a Pritzker Prizewinning architect. The transparent toilets have been installed in two Tokyo parks, Yoyogi Fukamachi Mini Park and Haru-no-Ogawa Community Park. At night, the restrooms light up like beautiful lanterns. The transparent bathrooms are a part of an initiative by the non-profit Nippon Foundation called the ‘The Tokyo Toilet Project’.
