Whale Sharks May Live 100 Years

A new study proves that whale sharks, the largest fish in the sea, can live for more than 100 years. Sharks lack otoliths, the bony structures in the skull that are used to estimate the age of most fish. As a result, determining their age becomes tough. Scientists  thus used carbon dating methods while studying cartilage from two whale sharks and were able to reveal their age more accurately.
