To reduce plastic pollution arising from the use of plastic bottles at tourist spots, the Nilgiris district administration collaborated with bottled water company Bisleri International Private Limited. This effort involved setting up water ATMs at various locations in Tamil Nadu’s Nilgiris district, including Boat House and Ooty Lake, which are well-known tourist locations. This initiative aimed to tackle problems linked to non-functional water ATMS that were set up earlier. These new water ATMS will provide tourists with water refills, including hot water, at a reasonable cost while protecting the environment.
