- Ask for Help: Most good libraries have a catalogue that helps you find what you need quickly. Look up keywords or topics related to your research. If there is no catalogue, ask the librarian for help.
- Explore Different Resources: Libraries have more than just books! Check out magazines, encyclopaedias and journals for extra information. Many libraries also offer digital resources.
- Use the Dewey Decimal System: The Dewey Decimal System is how books are organised in a library. Learn how it works so you can easily find what you’re looking for!
- Take Notes While You Read: Keep a note book handy to jot down important facts, ideas or quotes as you research. This will enable you to structure your thoughts.
- Read the Index and Table of Contents: Before diving into a book, check the index or table of contents to find the sections most relevant to your topic.
- Stay Focussed: It’s easy to get distracted in the library when you see novels and other books you like, but stay focussed on your topic of research.
