No Tobacco

Letters to Editor

By Amee Singh, Class 7, BGS Public School, Bangalore

Nobel laureate Abhijit Banerjee says that we can make small investments now to avoid undesired expenses in future. I wish Children's day could be enhanced to no tobacco day. On this day, children can create awareness by taking out processions and carrying 'No Tobacco' banners.

Cultural programs, road-shows etc. can be organised by school and children on harmful effects of tobacco. This concept would not only convince the audience and onlookers, but it will also have a long-lasting impact on volunteers, parents and teachers who have helped the kids in creating banners or organising the programs. The most significant impact will be on the children themselves. With this, we can prevent the spread of cancer through tobacco. We will ensure not only a healthy lifestyle of present and future generation of citizens but also the economy.
