Phew! Just a Nightmare

Phew! Just a Nightmare I had bought almost everything on the list. The only things left were honey and spring onions. I was driving back from the mall. But then suddenly a dog came running in front of the car. It looked a lot like Tessie…but no, Tessie had already died in a car accident, when she had run out onto the road just like this dog. No…I wasn’t going to let this dog die the way my poor Tessie had. I turned the car away from the dog but unfortunately, I couldn’t turn it back again in time.

I felt very dizzy and my memory was all foggy. I couldn’t remember properly what had happened. The last thing I remembered was the dog running into the road, the brightness of the daylight and my car headed off the road. As my head cleared, I realised that I was hanging upside down. My legs and feet were completely immobilised. It was very dark around me and I couldn’t see a thing. I tried to wiggle out of whatever was holding my legs but all in vain. As I calmed down I heard someone breathing in the room. Now my whole body had immobilized. Not because of something holding it but with fear. Then suddenly out of nowhere, I saw a pair of bright red eyes staring at me.

They weren’t just red; they were as red as blood. Then, a green sort of light started to spread in the room and then I saw her. There sat Tessie with the blood red eyes sitting in a rocking armchair. This was starting to get pretty creepy. And then at last I noticed that there was a lot of smoke gathering around me. As I looked down I saw a burning cauldron filled with some gooey and slimy purple material. It was right under me.

Then suddenly I was gone and I was out in the woods sitting on the wet grass. I could see twenty to thirty big wolves surrounding me. "Great! First I was going to be cooked in by my own dog and now I am going to be wolf-food.” I thought to myself. I was totally doomed. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. But then, very spectacularly, when I opened my eyes, I was lying on my bed in my room. It was exactly 6:00 a.m. and everyone else was sleeping soundly. It was time for me to get ready for school. Sometimes our bodies do have their ways of waking us up, don’t you agree?
