- Spain beat England 2-1 to win the final of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Euro 2024 Championship held in Olympiastadion in Berlin, Germany, on July 14.
- Spain’s Mikel Oyarzabal scored the winning goal in the match’s 86th minute, leading the Spanish team to victory.
- Spain’s Rodri was adjudged Player of the Tournament while Lamine Yamal, who turned 17 during the tournament, won the Best Young Player of the Tournament award.
- Earlier that same evening, Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz emerged victorious in the 2024 Wimbledon men’s singles final in London, UK.
- 21-year-old Alcaraz beat Serbia’s 37-year-old Novak Djokovic 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4). With this win, he became the youngest tennis player in the Open Era to win the men’s singles at Roland Garros and Wimbledon in a calendar year.
