Researchers from South Korea have developed small robots that employ magnetic fields to carry and shift objects with weights significantly higher than their own weight. These tiny robots operate like swarms of ants and are capable of performing different functions. They are 600 micrometres in height and draw inspiration from the cooperative behaviour of ants. Scientists make use of a rotating magnetic field to make numerous such robots work together. These robots function in unison, addressing problems that surpass the capacity of individual robots. According to scientists, these robots could have applications in numerous fields, including the medical field.
