Aswatha Biju is a 15-year-old palaeontologist. At the young age of two years, she would collect shells and look at them with fascination. At five, her father gifted her an encyclopaedia that introduced her to the world of fossils. By the age of 10, she had started going out for fieldwork and grew her collection of fossils. With time, she gained exposure in the field and started conducting sessions for schools and colleges across Tamil Nadu. She has received the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar, an award conferred by the government of India to children who have achieved exceptional feats in their respective domains.
