TIME magazine recently named Reshma Kewalramani among its 100 Most Influential People. Kewalramani is the chief executive officer and president of Vertex Pharmaceuticals, a leading global biotechnology company. She is the first woman to lead a major publicly traded US biotech firm. Under her leadership, Vertex developed groundbreaking therapies for cystic fibrosis and received US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for CASGEVY®, the first CRISPR-based gene-editing treatment for sickle cell disease and beta-thalassemia. Born in Mumbai, Kewalramani went on to study at Boston University, Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Business School, USA. She has received many awards including the International Institute of New England’s Golden Door Award.
