I Wish

Arundhati Agarwal, Class 7, Samashti International School, Hyderabad

Sometimes I wish I could talk to the stars,
Away from all the blinding lights of those awfully big cars.
Wonder what a different world that would be,
Above the clouds, where no one can see.
Sometimes I wish I could count all the flowers,
Blissfully unaware of crowded, looming towers.
Petal after petal, hues of colour all over,
How it would feel to stay under that rainbow cover.
Sometimes I wish I could climb the tree branches,
Where I can snap out of these polluting trances.
The blissfulness of being on top of the earth,
A feeling of contentment, the warmth of a hearth.
Sometimes I wish I could explore the waters,
Below the commotion, and all the new startups.
Seeing life in one of its truest forms,
How amazingly terrifying it would be to witness their storms.
Sometimes I wish I could hear the spirits,
Listen to what they have to say about our so-called ‘merits’.
Absorbing all the wisdom they would’ve shared,
It would be nice not to be the only one who cared.
Sometimes I wish I could be one with the air,
Drifting away from all evils and apart from their lairs.
Feeling so light, moving with ease,
It’d be amazing to do as I please.
