Deetya Dharsha, Class 12, The Indian Public School, Tamil Nadu
Arun found his grandfather’s old pocket watch in a drawer. Its glass was cracked and the hands no longer moved. It’s useless, he thought, tossing it aside. Weeks later, during a math exam, Arun froze. He had spent too long on one question and did not notice the clock on the wall. Time ran out before he could finish. That evening, his grandfather smiled gently and said, A broken watch may not tell the hours, but it reminds you of what time really is. Once gone, it never returns. Arun picked up the watch again. It still didn’t tick, but now he carried it as a reminder to value every moment.
