Scientists at South China Agricultural University (SCAU), China, have devised a technique that can make plants glow in different shades, such as blue and green, introducing new potential lighting solutions. Unlike previous techniques that employed genetic engineering, this technique employs a synthetic substance, making it novel. Scientists made succulents glow by infusing them with afterglow phosphor particles via injections. These particles function similarly to stickers and toys that glow in the dark. They enable the plants to absorb light and discharge it, leading them to stay luminous for a duration of around two hours.
