A teenager of Indian origin named Tejasvi Manoj has been selected as ‘TIME’s 2025 Kid of the Year’, in recognition of her efforts to ensure a safe online environment for senior citizens. Tejasvi developed a website called ‘Shield Seniors’ that raises awareness among senior citizens about online fraud and offers them knowledge on how to stay safe in the digital space. The website helps users to identify fraudulent behaviour, including the receipt of deceptive messages, and report cases to authorities. Tejasvi, who lives in Texas, USA, was driven to design ‘Shield Seniors’ after her grandfather almost fell prey to fraud. She has also organised seminars to educate senior citizens on online security. Tejasvi received an honourable mention in the 2024 Congressional App Challenge and, in 2025, delivered a TEDx talk in Plano, Texas, highlighting the importance of building digital bridges across all demographics.
