Amita Chaudhury, a woman of Indian origin, has been named the chair of the board of the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) Principles for Sustainable Insurance (PSI). This makes her the first Indian-origin woman to be appointed in this capacity. The UNEP FI works towards encouraging sustainable practices in the finance industry by linking financial organisations with the UN. Chaudhury, who holds a degree from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore, has gained global recognition for her efforts in reshaping businesses and promoting sustainability. She has served in key positions during her career, including a leadership role at Unilever. She has won numerous honours for her efforts, including the Leading Women Award for sustainable development.
