To equip students with artificial intelligence (AI) skills, the Ministry of Education intends to include AI in the education framework from the academic year 2026-2027. As per the plan, the subject will be part of the curriculum for all students starting from Class 3, with the goal of setting a strong AI foundation. Access to the subject is presently limited, with only certain Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) schools teaching the subject to students, especially in higher classes. The initiative also aims to empower teachers to provide quality AI training to students.
