Young Innovators: Sharanya Mehta

A class 12 student named Sharanya Mehta is helping farmers make informed irrigation decisions through her app called ‘Decision Support System’. This app gives farmers updates about weather conditions and information about the extent of moisture in the soil, helping them to carry out irrigation efficiently. The system uses various elements, including information gathered from satellites and sensors that monitor moisture in the soil, to help farmers grow crops. The app is designed to be simple for farmers to use, works without an internet connection and provides farmers with guidance in a variety of Indian languages.
