A Chhattisgarh cadre Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 1993 batch named Amit Agrawal has been appointed as secretary in the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). This appointment by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) was part of a cabinet reshuffle in which several officers took charge of new roles. Agrawal, who served as secretary in the Department of Pharmaceuticals, replaced Neeraj Mittal, who held the post previously. During his career, Agrawal has held several important government roles, including working as an additional secretary in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the chief executive officer of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).
