This artwork is a hand-drawn map titled “Cric-Land”, representing an imaginary world inspired by cricket and my own creativity. The entire island is designed in the shape of the letter “A”, which is special to me because it is the first letter of my name. I wanted the map to feel personal as well as imaginative, so shaping the land this way made the artwork more meaningful.
At the top of Cric-Land are the Midwicket Mountains, symbolising strength and stability, similar to a strong fielding position in cricket. Flowing nearby is the Longoff River, which adds movement and life to the landscape. One of the most playful features is Duck Lake, inspired by the cricket term “duck,” showing how I combined humour with geography.
One of the main attractions is the MSD Mall, named after the legendary M. S. Dhoni, known for his calm leadership and match-winning abilities. Cutting through the city is Hitman Street, named after the Indian cricket team’s “Hitman,” Rohit Sharma, representing power, timing, and consistency. On the side of the map lies the Virat Sea, acknowledging the influence of another iconic Indian cricketer.
In the centre of the island stands the Cover Drive Castle, which represents one of the most elegant and important shots in cricket. Nearby is Hattrick Village, symbolising achievement and success, and the Fine Leg Forest, which brings balance and greenery to the map.
At the lower part of the island is the Bay of Bumrah, named after Jasprit Bumrah, inspiration. It represents speed, accuracy, and impact, just like his bowling. Features such as Silly Point Station, Long On Tower, roads, and a compass rose make the map look realistic.
Overall, Cric-Land reflects my passion for cricket, creativity, and admiration for legendary players, all brought together in a personal and thoughtfully designed artwork.
