Bringing revolution to food technology, Italy has begun creating snacks using leftovers of fruits and plant cells cultivated in laboratories. The project, called ‘Nutri3D’, involves using these materials to create sweet and healthy snacks using 3D printing. This initiative, headed by the National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development (ENEA), a research body in Italy, aims to cope with issues such as the reduction of cultivable land and also offer options to people in regions with limited food availability. It is also expected to cater to individuals with specific diets by providing nutritious food options.
