The tenure of Ashwini Kumar Tewari, the managing director (MD) of the State Bank of India (SBI), has been extended by the Centre.
The tenure of Ashwini Kumar Tewari, the managing director (MD) of the State Bank of India (SBI), has been extended by the Centre. Tewari, who has over three decades of experience working at the bank, will continue working in the post till December 31, 2027. This marks the second extension of Tewari’s term. Tewari’s journey with SBI began as a probationary officer in 1991 and he served the organisation in various capacities. He assumed the role of MD in January 2021, with the duration of his term being increased by two years in 2024. During his career at the bank, he undertook various responsibilities within the country and abroad. SBI is among India’s most important banks and is pivotal to the country’s economy.
