In a significant development, Bengaluru has introduced an auto service for women passengers driven exclusively by women. This initiative, launched on February 14, aims to empower women drivers while ensuring safer travel for women passengers. The service, called ‘Sakhi’, can be accessed by requesting a ride through WhatsApp or via the service’s web application. It offers economical travel with a fixed minimum fare that increases based on the distance travelled.
