A Peaceful Earth

Dhwani Singh, Class 7, BGS Public School, Bengaluru

I hope that by the end of this poem,
I manage to inculcate just before it is too late…
That old saying –
“Peace is the only battle worth waging”
We have seen the results of World War I,
When hundreds of dead bodies were being burnt,
We have seen the violence of World War II,
And the hatred it caused too!
The results of Russia Ukraine war are known,
Where people are being left in ashes of flesh of bone,
The Hiroshima Nagasaki bombing is known as well,
The condition the city was left in, was worse than hell.
The story of the Monkey and two cats has loads of fame,
Yet, Powerful, Evil Nations reading it have no shame.
Thinking that it will affect their reputation and name!
The simple story has a strong message,
With modern politics it has a linkage.
In which like the two cats,
developing nations fight over mere resources,
And in doing so they exhaust their military forces.
Knowing all of this, the message we mostly miss,
Is that peace is way stronger than power,
Peace is bolder, better and louder,
than violence which is done by cowards.
Impossible though it may seem,
International peace will not always remain a dream,
I ask the fellow citizens of my only home planet – One last time,
“ Will you fulfill the Peaceful Earth dream of mine?”
